Municipalities and irrigators say they’re pleased with the Alberta government’s proposed changes to the Water Act. The province says Bill 7, the Water Amendment Act, which was tabled last Thursday, needs a significant update to address the province’s growth, as well as water shortages that parts of Alberta have experienced in recent years. The legislation has not been significantly updated since 1999, it says.
