Oldman Watershed Council

For the readers who do not know me very well, my name is Antoine Gendron
and I am a University of Lethbridge student. I am completing my fifth year
of post secondary school (2-year Sport Management and Ministry Diploma and
3rd year at U of L) and the Bachelor of Science portion of my mixed
Bachelor of Science and Education. I became involved with the Oldman
Watershed Council because of my passion for environmental science,
leadership, education, and positive change.

The Watershed Legacy Program is Oldman Watershed Council’s
boots-on-the-ground program. It aims to improve the way our landscape is
managed within the Oldman Watershed to improve water quality.

Most of people raised in a western culture have heard of being blinded by
love. Others may have actually experienced it themselves. However, not many
are familiar with another, very common, form perceptual impairment called 
plant blindness.

Calling all grade 7-12 teachers! Join the OWC and Caring for Our Watersheds
for a curriculum-connected, program that will educate and inspire! It's
easy to get started: contact the OWC for an in-class presentation; begin a
student-led, inquiry-based local action project; and enter your project to
win money for your school!

This year, OWC became a first-time sponsor of the 16th annual Grazing
School for Women organized by a variety of local Municipal Districts and
Counties, research groups, and stewardship groups such as Cows and Fish.
While grazing schools have played a major role in improving the
understanding and management of sustainable grazing and range health for
over 20 years, the new women-only schools do more, offering a unique
networking and collaborative learning environment specifically design for
ranching women.

The season of gift giving is upon us and we have some of the best gifts
around! At the Oldman Watershed Council, you have the chance to buy once
and gift twice: one gift to give to a friend or loved one, and a second
gift of support to the Oldman Watershed Council. 

While some species in our watershed might be preparing for hibernation, we
have been as active as ever, with events in the backcountry and here in
Lethbridge!

We’ve had a busy season of outreach and watershed stewardship here at OWC!
